God is so much better than I can think. My lens is a little shaded sometimes. My heart a little jaded.
When I think about God, my first thoughts always lead me to Love. “God is Love” is the phrase that we always hear. But what does that mean? How do I know God if I don’t know Love?
I like to think that I am a loving person. Someone full of grace, patience, tolerance, all those feels that love musters, all the synonyms found in 1 Corinthians (I’ll spare you the quote). But I far too often allow my own insecurities, my own preferences and desires to build a wall between myself and Love, missing the simplest acts of Love communication that stare me in the face every day.
I often wonder how I can see Him rightly when my experiences, my perspectives, my eyes don’t have the capacity to take all of Love in, they haven’t seen love demonstrated perfectly…they like to stay distracted.
Lucky for me, His eyes never left me.
In all my wandering, in all my straight up walking in the other direction. No matter how high the wall got, no matter how much I tried to close my eyes and childishly hide, He stuck around…didn’t leave me.
And somewhere in the process, I learned to submit to Love. To tear the walls down and stop my running. To lay back in abandon, fearless, and allow my heart to fully feel what He pours out so freely, so abundantly. It’s so much better to be fully known than to keep fighting. A safe place to learn the sacrifice of self. I think that’s what Love is to me.
This romance between Divine and…me. I don’t understand it. I never will, and maybe that’s what makes it so utterly beautiful, so breathtaking.
God is so much better than I can think. His gaze wipes away the shade and the jade. His heart beats for me.
Clearpath.life Family,
I hope you LOVE our February installment. It’s full of rich content that delves into the depths of God’s love for us and compels us to love the ones in front of us. Take time to stop, to listen and to be changed by the love of God – the love only found in Him – and the beautiful dialects of His love that exist in those around you.
Peace on the journey,
Andrea Sutton
